MATT MCWRIGHT

Matt McWright, PhD is a licensed therapist, human resources expert, and former Division I athlete whose life and work are guided by empathy, determination, and generosity. A former lacrosse player at Duke University, Matt learned early the discipline of teamwork, resilience, and leadership under pressure — lessons that continue to shape his professional and philanthropic path.

Today, Matt brings together clinical insight and organizational expertise in his work as a therapist and HR leader. He understands both the inner landscape of individuals and the structural dynamics of institutions, helping people and organizations thrive through thoughtful systems, compassionate leadership, and evidence-based practice. His empathy allows him to meet people where they are; his determination ensures meaningful progress; and his generosity creates cultures of trust and belonging.

Matt currently serves as Chair of the Board of Daraja Academy, where he supports the school’s mission to provide high-quality secondary education to exceptional Kenyan girls from underserved backgrounds. His leadership reflects his belief that opportunity changes trajectories — not just for individuals, but for communities.

Whether guiding clients, advising executive teams, or stewarding a nonprofit mission, Matt leads with heart and backbone. He combines the competitive spirit of an athlete, the precision of a scholar, and the compassion of a healer — always in service of helping others grow.
